Pamtoes Teacher Training Program

The Pamtoes Acadamy eight level programme aims to produce graduates of the highest calibre who are capable of integrating effortlessly into The Australian Ballet and top professional dance companies in Australia and around the world.

Our programme is based on the Vaganova Method but we accept students from any training background with the School seeking musicality, artistic potential and suitability for a future career as a professional ballet dancer.

The Training Programme nurtures and encourages the special qualities of Pamtoes dancers

Designed for Australian bodies and temperaments, the Training Programme nurtures and encourages the special qualities of Australian dancers, which have been internationally recognised and acclaimed for many years. These qualities include youthful freshness, expressiveness and the joy of dancing; combined with athleticism, a natural dramatic ability, musicality and a strong technique.

The Training Programme produces dancers possessing a strong classical technique with a great emphasis on artistry, purity of line, coordination and a quality of movement which is free of any stylistic mannerisms.

The School operates on a four-term structure, with each year commencing mid-January and concluding early December. Students begin their year with Orientation and Graded Conditioning classes. All students are required to be in attendance on the first day of each term (or as otherwise specified) and are not permitted to take leave from the School until the completion of the last class at the end of each term.

After School Programme (ASP) or Intrastate/Interstate/International Programme (ITP)

Approximately 9-14 years old

Students from 8 to 13 years old (in the auditioning year) undertake an audition, and if successful, will be offered training options based on their age, location and ability. This arrangement offers greater access and training options to develop young dancers and students can be invited to study in the After School Programme (ASP) or Intrastate/Interstate/International Training Programme (ITP).

Students living in the outskirts of Melbourne Metro and beyond will be considered for ITP. The ITP accepts students from all around Australia and Internationally.

Full-Time Programme

Approximately 13-20 years old

Level 4 to 8 students attend Full-Time training in Melbourne (International students enter from Level 5). Entry into this programme is via audition.

Some students from outside of Melbourne live in the safe and nurturing environment of our purpose built boarding facility Marilyn Rowe House. Younger Australian students and all international students must be accommodated at Marilyn Rowe House (some exceptions allowed), while entry by older Australian students is subject to availability. Full information can be found on the Boarding Programme page.

Open Classes

3-18 years old

The School also offers Open Classes in Melbourne and around Australia which any student can join without the need to Audition.
